What is Birmingham Bigfoot? Is this for real?
Admittedly, this started as a joke between three running buddies. Before
setting out on a run one day we noticed a news clip about some guys in
Georgia that had supposedly captured a Bigfoot. It was obviously a fake
and it became a topic of conversation during our run. We joked that we
probably had a real one living in Birmingham. Birmingham Bigfoot.
This was a joke between us for a couple of weeks, but one day running
through the UAB campus it became all too real. We spotted a very tall,
very hairy figure lumbering across the quad. We were all thinking the same
thing, could this be real? Could this really be Birmingham Bigfoot?
We approached with caution and were careful not to startle it. As we came
closer we realized that it was at least somewhat human because it was
wearing an ipod. It mumbled something incoherent and even let us take it’s picture. That’s when we got the idea for this site.
We realized that not all sightings of Bigfoot occur in some remote
wilderness. There are Birmingham Bigfoots (or is it Bigfeet?) everywhere.
Ever been at a concert and seen a really hairy person with their shirt
off? Hairy back? Could be a Birmingham Bigfoot. Extremely long hair,
beard, arm hair? Probably a Birmingham Bigfoot.
So, now here’s the call to action. When you see that hairy person at a
concert, in the grocery store, at work, at church, or at the gym, take a
picture. If that person is you, then smile and pose for your close-up.
